Humming Urban Stereo – Another Korean invasion again?

The music video is cute!
This is the first time I feel worth listening to Korean music. Thanks to Humming Urban Stereo who brought this song as I seldom fond of Korean music and culture, this is quite an eye opener.

Humming Urban Stereo uses the mere trifles of everyday life as its material for creating music. The band was created by Lee Jeereen, a 24-year-old man who is inspired by familiar things in life such as books, movies, food and friends. Thus, the lyrics of the band’s songs include lines from French movies. Sometimes, the songs are named after the title of a book by a Japanese poet that the composer had enjoyed reading. The ideas of kitsch-style by Lee Jeereen seem to lack seriousness but many times, include fun thrills. Listening to Humming Urban Stereo’s music, one naturally reflects into his or her own life. The band’s music can be simplified as something like a salad of mixed musical genres like bossa nova, acid jazz, lounge and house. The band’s music is light, smart and delightful.
From KBS World
Humming Urban Stereo combines acid jazz and lounge music, with some Latin / bossa nova rhythms. The sound is largely electronic – rhythms are programmed, and there are lots of fun synthesized effects. The music is written, arranged and programmed by the band’s leader, Lee Jeereen. It’s slick, polished and in the end a little bit sterile. It’s the sort of music you might find in an achingly trendy bar, where the customers are all so beautiful and hip, and more interested in talking loudly than listening to the music. The vocalists are nicely laid back, which suits the style of music.
From London Korean Links
Since I already tired listening to Shiina Ringo / Tokyo Jihen as my Asian genre slot, the group brisk music ala The Cardigans style and funky electro-pop will be populating in my playlist as for now. I never thought of Korean product would be up to this standard. Anyway, do enjoy their nice songs below

just wanted to say, the artist jeereen is really down to earth and responsive to his fans! i once wrote him an email, just hoping he gets it, about how much i love his music but that his english is at times really bad. he wrote back a personal email thanking me for my support and promising he’ll study english more so that one day he could reply back to me in english. sooo cool.
